The non-profit ‘Matto Barfuss Foundation’ was established in 2025 in Germany. It was founded by Matto Barfuss and the 1998 established non-profit organisation ‘Leben für Geparden e.V.’ (LIfe for Cheetahs), founded by Matto Barfuss in 1998, which was dedicated to the conservation of wild cheetahs.
In July 2026 the Matto Barfuss Foundation registered successfully the Matto Barfuss Conservation Trust in Botswana.
The Founder Matto Barfuss lost his heart in Botswana. He says: „Botswana is a role-model as a democracy and also a role model how to utilise wildlife as a sustainable resource. I want to dedicate my work and legacy to support Botswana, the people and wildlife to continue the road to a bright future where wild animals and humans co-exist.“
The Matto Barfuss Conservation Trust runs an office in Maun. The Country Manager is Sharon Banyatsang.

- Wildlife Education (Interactive Wildlife-Schoolbook „The Wildlife at my Home)
- Twining Arrangements of Schools in Botswana and Europe

- Promotion of Botswana as Sustainable Wildlife-Destination
